I make her wear headbands

Since Reese is bald, she is forced to wear headbands everyday. She has just developed her own opinion about them and likes to rip them off:

So then we spend 10 minutes going back and forth. She usually wins. Darn it.

So the other night Brian and I were on the couch, relaxing after putting the girls to bed. We had our nightly snack of cookies and milk when Bria comes at the top of the stairs and says very sweetly, "What're you guys eating?"
Crap, we're caught.
I decide to not admit the full truth because that just seems cruel to tell her we are eating cookies while she's stuck in bed. So instead I said, "We're eating strawberries."
A look of disappointment spreads across her face and she says in a boring tone, "Oh." Then turns and goes into her room and back to bed.
That's how much she despises strawberries. I'm not sure what is more hilarious, the fact that she hates strawberries so much, or that she just went back to bed so willingly.

Gotta love this girl

She's got spunk.

I've been doing a few more crafts around the house. I created a little reading corner in the playroom for Bria and I like how it's coming along. I have one wall done, the other wall I just want to put some shelves up so I can display books.
I got some letters from Michael's and painted them turquoise.
I used a shadow box and glued the letters on the outside.

Then printed off a cute chevron patter from the computer and filled in where you normally put pictures.

That was it!
The little frames below are cheap wooden ones that were $1 from Michael's. I modge podged some scrapbook paper on them and then printed cute Dr. Suess things to go in them. I like the colors :)
I had a great birthday yesterday and am grateful to my friends and family for making me feel so special.
My sweet friend Randi sent this to me! Not only was it her anniversary but she was also at a funeral this day, she is very thoughtful.

And Dehlia was AWESOME and brought me starbucks. LOVE it.

Oh, and see those chocolate covered strawberries in my edible arrangement? Bria did take a bite of one of them, but I don't think any strawberry got in there, just chocolate :)

The many faces..

...of Reese.

This little girl has quite a personality. She has so many different facial expressions and is such a character.
"Ahhhh!!"

"Ooooh"

Freaking hilarious

Seriously hilarious

"Ohh!"

Spunky
It's fun to take her places. One, because she is happiest when we are out and about. Two, because she is such a ham and just eats up the attention that strangers give her. Sometimes she will act all shy, then flash her big, gorgeous smile. Other times she will give her big cheesy grin right away, and others she will stare at with a deer in the headlight look. Any of the looks get lots of laughs and she just loves the attention.
She recently started doing a serious face that cracks us up...and she knows it.

This little girl does not lack a personality that's for sure.
I think she probably gets it from watching her very entertaining and loud sister ;)

Let's get Messy!!

My friends and I saw this awesome idea on Pinterest about having a messy playdate. Basically you set up your backyard with all sorts of sensory things for your kids and let them get messy. I was really excited to do this and on one of our recent (and rare) warm days I took full advantage.

There was a bath station, with water bubbles and different water toys to play with.

I made moon sand (flour and baby oil) but it didn't make as much as I thought it would even though I used a whole bag of flour!

Water beads (my favorite, and the kids as well)

I also filled a tub with balloons at the last minute and surprisingly it was a big hit.

Reese played in there for quite awhile

Sisters!

Water beads are so much fun!

Dehlia brought over her activity table and put shaving cream it in, great idea!! I need to get me a table like this.

Bria and Bennett washing off

Reese loved the shaving cream. She kept eating it so I finally had to put her back in the balloons :) Maybe I'll do pudding sometime, that way she can eat it safely.
I highly recommend a messy playdate, it's great for the kids and great for the moms. It didn't take me too long to set up, but clean did take awhile. But it was well worth it!! I think the kids would agree.

Today is my last day as a 28 year old, I'm about to enter my last year in my 20's. I hope my 30's bring as much joy as my 20's did!

9 months

Wha?!
Reese Makena is 9 months old, let's see what she's up to :)

"Oh yes, let's see what I'm up to!"
  • First and foremost, being adorable!
  • She smiles so easily and gives the BEST hugs in the entire world
  • She is army crawling and FAST
  • She pulls up on everything to stand and walks along the couch or her toys

  • Goes from laying down to sitting
  • Wants to walk all the time, she will crawl over to me, grab my fingers and stand up and then lead me to where she wants to go, and she definitely knows where she wants to go
  • She's definitely going to be a climber
  • Is making tons of different noises (Da-da, ny-ny, mmm, screaming) and makes the most hilarious faces ever, such a ham!
  • Has her four front teeth (2 on top, 2 on bottom)

  • Wears size 3 diapers
  • Wears 6-12 month or 9 month clothes
  • Is a biter
  • Is very loud

One of her hilarious faces

Her Blue Steel impression

Such a happy girl

No photo shop here, those baby blues are all her
It's hard to believe that in 3 months she will celebrate her first birthday. I haven't even begun to think about it because it seems like she's still suppose to be a little newborn. Sometimes I think, "I can't wait until the girls are a little older and we can do tons of family trips!" Then I slap myself because I don't want them to get bigger, then they'll stop wanting me to hold them and won't want me to play with them. They'll start choosing their friends over me and then I'll cry.
So yeah, I'm going to enjoy my babies. 'Cuz they are freaking adorable and I love them.

This video is not proof that Reese will be walking soon. Nope. Not at all.
Denial, denial is good.

A hiking we will go

The date: June 16th and 17th, 2012
Time: 10 am
Mission: Hike Eagle Creek

Lance and Kayla preparing to set out on our adventure
It was about a 7 1/2 mile hike in to where we were camping for the night, and it was a gorgeous hike. Very rocky, literally. Ankle-bending rocky terrain along with incredibly high cliffs. When I say high cliffs, I mean we were walking on a trail that was about 2 feet wide, with one side being a rock wall and the other side being hundreds of feet down.

But the waterfalls, oh the waterfalls were spectacular. Oregon is just gorgeous.

My hiking man

Careful, those rocks are a doozy

Still hiking

Tunnel falls, truly amazing, you walk in a tunnel behind the falls

Spectacular
We made decent time, although we weren't in a rush, except for the last hour when we were ready to take off our shoes and soak our feet because holy hell those rocks make for some sore feet! Poor Jaime got some killer blisters, but she was still a trooper.
We found a good camp spot and set up our gear.
Lance and Kayla chillin
After setting up camp we headed down to replenish our water supply

Me, Kayla, and Jaime

Brian being all manly
On the way back to camp we saw another set of hikers and they had laid out ferns to sit on. Genius! So we did the same, it had a calming effect.
Kayla finding peace and tranquility in our circle of ferns

Some yoga (and no, Kayla and I did not plan our matching outfits :)
We built a fire even though it wasn't too cold outside, a fire is a must when camping. I will say, us girls proved ourselves by getting the fire nice and big. We're cool like that.
We turned in pretty early, I think by 9 we were in bed. I slept like a baby, even with having to get up to pee in the middle of the night. There is nothing worse than having to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night when camping, such a hassle.
We woke up, packed up and headed out. We were ready to get on the trail and head for home...or more importantly head for lunch for a big juicy burger.

Another gorgeous spot, this is what makes me love Oregon

We reached the end of the trail and were exhausted and starving. Soooo ready to eat a big meal. What better place to go then Full Sail?! It was delicious.
Enjoying a beer
I'm sure the poor people that sat by us where plugging their noses, but we didn't care. We just wanted to eat.

Tired, oh so tired
It was an awesome hike and I can't wait to go again. Next time Jenny and Kyle can join us though, they were missed for sure.
