Dude...

summer is here. It's flippin' hot out there, it went from winter to summer in a matter of a week. We were having the coldest June in the history of the world and now we're having the hottest. Go figure, please refer to the Oregon post below by Jeff Foxworthy. I'm not complaining though, I love seeing the sun and blue sky, it's beautiful. We don't have A/C but we have an all-house ceiling fan that helps pull that cool air in at night, it makes sleeping very bareable which I am grateful for. I think we're going to go to the store sometime this week to pick up a kiddie pool, that way we can sit in there and cool off, plus it just sounds fun and I want to see Brian get in :-)

New York bound
Well it's finally happening. Brandi and Chris are packing up and moving to New York, with them goes Malise-MJ's best friend, and Austin-my baby. What are we going to do without them you ask? I have no clue. We'll probably wonder around the block aimlessly, shouting their names. We will now refer to this past year as the Chris and Brandi year, what a fun year it was. But at least this gives us a reason to go visit New York City.

Brian's School
Did I mention that Brian got an A in strategic managment and a B+ in Finance last term? Yeah, that's MY man! I'm such a proud wife. We'll both be so happy when he is done with school and has his weekends and evenings back again.

Weekend
I'm so glad it's a 4-day work week and we have a long weekend coming up. This working 5 days a week is just not working for me ;) Not 100% sure what we're doing for the 4th but I know we'll be spending time with Chris and Brandi since we have to soak up as much of them as we can.

Feeling Good

Monday and Tuesday were a little rough getting back in the swing of things. Coming back from vacation is always a slap in the face, but I survived. Today is much better, the sun is shining, it's summertime, and it's my birthday :) I'm 25 on the 25th.
Brian woke me up with a nicely wrapped shoe box which thrilled me to pieces. He got me a tan pair of shoes/sandals that are adorable and so comfortable. Thanks babe, you're the best. We are going out for ice cream tonight to finish off the day.
Jaime and the kids called to sing me happy birthday, there is something about those little kid voices that is just music to the ears, it was adorable. At the end of the song Porter said, "Blow it out," referring to the candles on the cake, Jaime and I died laughing. It was so stinkin' cute.

I cannot express how happy I am that the sun is out, I love the sunshine. Although I do feel bad for those that suffer from allergies. All my siblings got the dreaded allergies but I was blessed not to. Knock on wood. But I am loving waking up to the blue sky each morning and going for bike rides or walks in the evening. Man I sound cheesey, but it's the truth.

Brian started summer term and is taking two classes. I personally think he's insane. This will be his 3rd term in a row of 2 classes. It's just a lot for him to take on and keeps him extremely busy. He usually goes to bed early and wakes up at 3:30 am to do homework before he goes to work. I just can't believe he isn't burned out, instead he's more motivated to finish and get his master's!

MJ had a great time at grandma's (Brian's mom) house while we were in Shasta. Marna took her on a walk every morning which I know she just loved. She also took her to baseball games and tired her out good. She pretty much slept for 2 days staight when we got her back, thanks grandma!

Shasta 2008

We had the best time in Shasta last week! We left for Shasta on Sunday and came back Saturday. All week was spent on the boat in the beautiful sunshine-it was heaven.
No sunburns to report which is good, just some nice brown, tan, skin :) It's hard being back at work now after such a relaxing week in the sun, but reality calls. We ended up sleeping in the Murano, the back seat folds down completely and we put a foam mattress on it. It was way more comfortable than tent camping and a lot quieter.
Brian and I both enjoyed wake surfing, which my mom has pictures of and I will post once I get them from her. But I thought I'd share a few that we have on our camera:

We went to see the Shasta caves which were cool, this is the view of Shasta lake from the top of the caves, beautiful!
Another view

Wake surfing-eventually you throw the rope in and just surf on the wave, it's AWESOME!
We had a celebrity couple night and Brian and I went as..... can you guess?
Maybe this will help:
Johnny and Baby from Dirty dancing :-)

Me smiling for Brian in the caves

Brian crashing on the tubs with Randy
Grandma and Jaidyn-Jaidyn was a little fishy all week!
Just enjoying the sun
Brian took the opportunity to jump in
It felt good though :-)

We had a wonderful time, Shasta 2008 will go down in the books as best Shasta trip ever!

Only in Oregon

TIME FOR A GOOD LAUGH~Jeff Foxworthy on OREGON

If someone in a Home Depot store offers you assistance and they don't work there, you live in Oregon.

If you've worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you live in Oregon. <---Done it.

If you've had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed the wrong number, you live in Oregon.

If 'vacation' means going anywhere south of Salt Lake City for the weekend, you live in Oregon. <---Very true

If you measure distance in hours, you live in Oregon. <---I didn't know that was just an Oregon thing, haha.

If you know several people who have hit a deer more than once, you live in Oregon. <---I do!

If you have switched from 'heat' to 'A/C' and back again in the same day, you live in Oregon. <---I've most definitely done this.

If you install security lights on your house and garage but leave both unlocked, you live in Oregon.

If you can drive 75 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard without flinching, you live in Oregon. <---Not sure about this one.

If you design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit, you live in Oregon. <---We usually pick our halloween costumes based on how warm they will keep us.

If the speed limit on the highway is 55 mph --you're going 80, and everyone is still passing you, you live in Oregon.

If driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow, you live in Oregon. <---Again, not all parts of Oregon get that much snow, but the potholes are freakin' annoying!

If you know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter, and road construction, you live in Oregon.

If you find 10 degrees 'a little chilly' you live in Oregon. If you actually understand these jokes and forward them to all your OREGON friends, you live in Oregon

Short and Sweet

Summer will be here soon, but you wouldn't be able to tell from our crappy weather. Rainy, cloudy, windy, and cold. "Welcome to Oregon folks, here's an umbrella and a ticket back to where you came from. Run!" Luckily we'll be going to Shasta soon and leaving this rain behind.
I am feeling 100% better and so glad. No more flem for me :-)

It's my friends Sarah's birthday today, happy birthday Sar-Bear!
Nothing else going on here for the Holcombs. I will leave you with 2 more random pictures.
Brian and I (way too posed, but whatever)

And Austin, sleeping in my arms

It's almost the weekend, thank goodness!
