You're Gonna Miss This

I love this song and thought I would share the lyrics in case you haven't heard it, it's by Trace Adkins.

She was staring out the window of their SUV
Complaining, saying "I can't wait to turn 18"
She said "I'll make my own money, and I'll make my own rules"
Mamma put the car in park out there in front of the school
Then she kissed her head and said "I was just like you"

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Before she knows it she's a brand new bride
In a one-bedroom apartment, and her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies and buying a house
Daddy shakes his head and says "Baby, just slow down"

Cause you're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this

Five years later there's a plumber workin' on the water heater
Dog's barkin', phone's ringin'
One kid's cryin', one kid's screamin'
And she keeps apologizin'
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got 2 babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
Huh, it's hard to believe, but...

You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this"

Sometimes I need to remember to enjoy the now.

Needed: Sunshine

Holy cow I am sick of the rain and cold weather. We had snow, hail, and thunder this last weekend. This is Oregon people!!!! I just really need the sun to come out, I'm going crazy because this winter has seemed to last FOREVER. I am glowingly pale and my vitamin D deficiency is going to send me to an early grave I believe. Please send sun our way if you have it, it's greatly appreciated :)

So I have nothing to update about, we're just plugging along and waiting anxiously for June when we go to Shasta Lake. The only reason I feel comfortable posting that on a public website is because we have house sitters, so don't think you can come break into our home! Anyway, it will be nice to get away from here and into the sun, hopefully this cloudy, cold weather does not follow us there.

I was productive this weekend and cleaned out our spare bedroom (not the one that Lance is taking residence in). It felt great to get that room organized and cleaned, now we keep the door open instead of closing it to hide the mess :) MJ also got a hair cut and bath, she looks adorable of course. That's right, we had a wild weekend! Actually, we did go out to dinner to Red Lobster on Friday for our friend Travis' birthday. Brian and I are not huge fans of seafood so Red Lobster is not a place we would normally go to, but we enjoyed the food, and of course the cheesy biscuits.

Things that give me Fuzzy Feelings
I really want to journal about how much I love the weekends. I absolutely love sleeping in, it is a great feeling to wake up without an alarm buzzing in your ear. I love just laying in bed talking, then wondering downstairs to let MJ out, making my coffee and getting Brian's paper. Then crawling back in bed to relax. It's not the exact same every weekend, but similar.

My husband. I don't want to get all sappy or come off like we have the best marriage ever and we never fight, we have our arguments. But I just really have to say that Brian is seriously my best friend in the whole world.......and I get to spend time with him EVERY DAY! I still get butterflies when I see his number pop up on my caller ID, I can't wait to hear his voice. I love when he tries to give excuses for things by treating it like a business transaction and I call him out on it, he just laughs with those adorable dimples and my heart melts, all is forgiven. Those darn dimples!

Summer mornings. I am so motivated and happy when I wake up and the sun is out........I miss those mornings. Wonder if they'll come back.

When MJ curls up on my lap the second I sit down. I love that gosh darn dog, she just has the cutest personality. All she wants is our attention and love, it's a great feeling to walk in the house because MJ acts like you are the light of her life. She is just so excited to see you.

Working out in the yard. I love being outside with the sun shining and my husband right next to me in a shirt that reveals his muscular biceps, yummy.

Reading a good book while sipping a good cup of coffee.

Playing games with the whole family. I love that I have a big family, although it could use more little ones running around :-)

What is Love?

A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, ’What does love mean?’ The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined See what you think:

When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’
Rebecca- age 8

When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth’
Billy - age 4

’Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’
Karl - age 5

’Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.’
Chrissy - age 6

’Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’
Terri - age 4

’Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’
Danny - age 7

’Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss’
Emily - age 8

’Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.’
Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)

’If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,’
Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

’Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’
Noelle - age 7

’Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.’
Tommy - age 6

’During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’
Cindy - age 8

’My mommy loves me more than anybody You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’
Clare - age 6

’Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’
Elaine-age 5

’Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.’
Chris - age 7

’Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.’
Mary Ann - age 4

’I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’
Lauren - age 4

’When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ (what an image)
Karen - age 7

’Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.’
Mark - age 6

’You really shouldn’t say ’I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’
Jessica - age 8

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said, ’Nothing, I just helped him cry’

Sunny day...

...sweeping the clouds away! Saturday was absolutely gorgeous out, I mean gorgeous! I spent as much time outside as possible, I did yard work for a good 3 to 4 hours. I thatched our front yard very thoroughly and my back is still incredibly sore, but it was worth it. Then I mowed both the front and back lawns and watered our evergreen clematis. I have some nice tan lines from my day in the sun which I'm quite proud of. Busy Brian was doing homework and would occasionally come and stand in the window to watch me work in the yard or get me a refreshing glass of water. His hard work is paying off, he's gotten 100% on his first 2 homework assignments, he's so smart.
We of course had to BBQ Saturday, it was too nice not to. We invited Chris and Brandi over and sat outside eating our steak, salad, and bread. I have some cute pictures of Austin that I'll post later. Funny how all my pictures are of Austin and he's not even my baby, can you imagine what I'll be like?!

I've been wanting to go miniature golfing since last summer and we never went, so Sunday Brian took me and we had such a good time. I'm proud to say I beat my hubby, though I'll admit it was all luck and no skill on my part. Still, it counts.

This week it's back to the rain and wearing my winter coat. I think Spring is sleeping in this year and I'm not to happy about that, wake up Spring, we need the sun!

We do have some life altering (in my opinion) news: Brian has been transferred to Eugene. This is about 45 minutes away from where we live, and in the exact opposite direction of Salem, where I work. Great. He actually has the best attitude (of course) about it and is taking it head on. He knows this will challenge him and he is looking forward to expanding his knowledge. I've gotta say, I hope UPS realizes what an amazing employee he is, he succeeds at everything they throw at him and does it with a smile on his face. I, on the other hand, am not thrilled with this change. It means more driving for him, which is less time at home, less time to be spent working on school, and less time with me. Not to mention the insane amount of money we will be spending on gas. But I'm trying to look past that and just know this comes with the job. Brian needs a supportive wife and that's just what I'll be! Then I'll just come and blog about my frustrations :-)

2 in 1!

2 Posts in 1 day, I'm on a roll! Brian is taking a quick study break so I thought I'd get on and post pictures. They are all of Austin because he is so precious. Brandi took these pictures and I'm so glad she did!
Precious sleeping newborn, is there anything better?
Wait, there is, your man holding a precious sleeping newborn. I really hope our kids get those delicious dimples, yum!
So tiny. He has gotten so much bigger since these pictures, I'll have to take pictures next time I am over there.
Changing the little mans diaper

Alright, I better let the man get back to his homework. Have a wonderful Monday!

It's April!

We are credit card debt free!!! We paid off our credit card on April 1st and it is simply the best feeling, we're thrilled beyond belief.

Cirque Du Soleil was a perfect way to celebrate our hard work. We started our Saturday date night by heading to The Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed a delicious dinner. I got the Thai Chicken Pasta and holy cow I was in heaven, I have left overs for lunch today and am thrilled. Unfortunately we did not leave room for dessert, but neither of us like cheesecake anyway, oh the irony. We had time to do a little shopping before heading to the show so we walked around the mall for awhile.
We couldn't take pictures inside the big Cirque Du Soleil tent so I didn't bring my camera, which now I am kicking myself for because I could have taken pictures of the outside. I snapped some with my cell phone, but of course the quality is not so great.

Anyway, we seriously had the best time, those people are INCREDIBLE, they just blew us away. We thought our stunting was cool, these people were on a completely different level, 100 times more impressive than anything we've ever done, no more like 150 times more impressive. Actually probably 300 times, at least, or like 500 times. You get the idea. They were flat out phenomenal. I would highly recommend going to a show, it was so much fun. We actually had something kind of cool happen to us, they included us in the show! In the very beginning they were involving the audience because they needed someone to go in their coffin since the guy they had in there escaped (just go with me), everyone is of course raising their hand and wanting to go in, probably the only time people will voluntarily get in a coffin I might add. Well the guy starts climbing on the back of our chairs in search for someone and "falls" in my lap and gives me a big kiss on my cheek! It was hilarious, he then proceeds to go behind Brian and asks him to stand up and introduce himself. The guy then asks if Brian would fit in the coffin and everyone says no, so he presses Brian's hair down and asks, "How about now?" He didn't make Brian get in the coffin thankfully. It was really exciting to be included in the show and we are now going to add that to our resume :-) The funniest part is right before he came over to us Brian said, "You know whoever they pick is part of the show." They showed Brian!

Brian is working so hard this term, balancing work and classes. He is taking 2 classes this term and they are proving to be tougher than the 2 he took last term already. He is consumed with homework and it's only the start of the second week. It is hard to see him so stressed out because he rarely shows his stress, much like myself (dripping with sarcasm). I just wish I could help more, he is on the computer everyday doing homework or working on papers. I think the summer will be a nice break for him, he is planning to not take classes, we'll see if he actually doesn't though. Once he starts looking at how many more classes he has to take and when he is expected to graduate (Spring of 2010) he gets all motivated and wants to complete as many as possible. His ambition is one of the things I love about him!
I so admire you babe, you are doing so well in school and I could not be more proud of you. Thank you for working so hard for the better of our family, your future children and I love and thank you!

So my blog will continue to have a lack of pictures since I usually blog from work since Brian needs the computer more than I do. Hopefully my awesome writing skills will make up for lack of pictures. Oh dear, I better just add pictures.
