We continue to work on house projects and are loving how everything is turning out. We haven't been without hiccups but I think our gratitude towards owning this home helps put things in perspective.
Back when we were renting and owning a home was still a year or two out, Brian found an awesome mirrored door at Habitat for Humanity. It was on sale for $25 and he snagged it up. We knew that eventually we would use it in our home for a barn door or some sort.
We are thrilled that day finally arrived and our master bath was the perfect location for it. The bath had a pocket door but it was off track and didn't work properly, plus it was a narrow door way and so was the door we had bought. So we went to work:
Step 1: Sand and paint door
Step 2: Tear off molding, buy new molding, paint
Step 3: Install new molding and touch up
Step 4: Mount door...this is tricky because you have to be exact so the door doesn't slide open or shut on it's own, you want everything completely level. Which is especially tricky when your ceiling and floor aren't necessarily the most accurate gauge.
Step 5: Router the bottom and install the guide.
Step 6: Kiss your handy hubby and step back and enjoy the beauty.
We picked up some fun stuff from Hobby Lobby to finish off decorating the bathroom and we are both feeling pretty good. Our bath will be one of the first big projects after the pool. While it's a decent bathroom, our shower is a little smaller so we want to make that larger and then update the flooring, trim, mirror, faucets, etc. But for now, it's awesome.
We decided a few days before Christmas to get crazy and paint the living room. We decided on a nice neutral gray, San Francisco fog, and went to work. We got it done in 24 hours.

Clearly this room is screaming for a few more things, we would love 2 chairs to go in front of the big window, we also need a big fun lump, both for lighting and decorative purposes. And we need to figure out how to decorate the mantel. But honestly, the simplicity of this room keeps me calm. So I won't go crazy in here with clutter.
We loved the gray so much and continued it into the entryway.
