Updates

Brian finished up his classes this last weekend, yay! He is taking fall term off which I am thrilled about. UPS puts a cap on how much they will pay for school each year and he reached it in spring term, so we had to pay for summer term, ick. It's worth it though. Anyway, I think we are both excited about the break he'll have and hopefully it will give us time to prepare for a little one that will join us :-)

So I've been wanting to get my pictures off our memory card and decided to upload them to snapfish. I attempted this last week and after an hour 65% of the pictures were uploaded. I was almost done and I was very excited. Suddenly the computer froze, when it came back to life the window closed. No need to panic, at least it got most of the pictures. Wrong. It uploaded none of them. Still, at least I have my pictures on the camera so no need to get all huffy about it. I was bummed sure, but it wasn't the end of the world. I went to bed and decided I'd take care of it on Wednesday night. I gave it another go on Wednesday but our computer decides to have a virus, wonderful. So I still have yet to get the pictures uploaded to snapfish, someday I will. At least I had good intentions. Brian has been able to work around the virus and work on his school stuff, but I just decided to wait until he is done with his class and can clean the computer off entirely.

Brian and I are on vacation next week, yay! We are both thrilled of course even though we don't have a ton of plans, it'll just be nice to have time off. We are going to Washington this weekend for labor day, but that's about it. I love having time off work, it makes me so happy.

Did I mention we got cable? We are coming out of the stone ages people, we caved and got basic cable. Like the really basic, but hey, it's better than nothing. Most importantly we are able to watch The Office when season 5 starts.

So in a nutshell, what have we been up to lately?
HP Picnic on the 16th, really hot but tons of fun
Birthday celebrations for my amazing father and adorable little sis, Cassidy
Dinner with Tiff, Eric, and Maggie (she's 12 weeks old now!)-so fun
Brian has been doing homework
I have been reading pregnancy books
BBQ with neighbors (Scott & Adi, Roxi, Nate and their little one-Gracee)
Watching movies together and relaxing on the couch

Closing a chapter

Yesterday was a significant day, it was the day I took out my belly button ring. It's time to move on and close that chapter of my life. You may be thinking, "Really. You're getting sentimental over a belly button ring?" The answer my friend is yes I am. I've had that ring for 10 years and I still remember the day my mom finally said I could get it. Let's go back in time, shall we:

When Jenny turned 16 (or was it 15 sis, I can't remember) she was allowed to get her belly button pierced. Oh my was I jealous! I thought it was the coolest thing ever, pretty much anything she did I thought was cool and wanted to copy. She was just walkin' around, with a hoop in her belly button and I was in awe. I knew I HAD to get one, and now I had leverage because Jenny got one, so it's only fair that I get one at that age.
I waited patiently (right, when have I ever been patient?) and believe at 15 started begging for one. My mom was like no way. So I pulled out the, "But Jenny got one," in my whiniest voice. As my 16th birthday neared it was not looking good and I was MAD to say the least. My mom still wasn't budging on the issue and I could not believe it. It was so not FAIR.
For my 16th birthday my friends sent me on a scavenger hunt and drove me around. I remember having a lot of fun riding around with my friends and guessing the clues. The last clue puzzled me though, and I couldn't figure out what it meant:

The poke is near, good thing it's not in your ear.

I was stumped, my silly friends were making no sense. As we drove back to my house I was racking my brain when all of the sudden the light bulb went on and the hallelujah music played, MY BELLY BUTTON RING! I didn't let on that I had a good idea of what the final present was, I played along.
We finally got to the house and I opened a small box. Inside was a belly button ring, I was so flippin' excited. I hugged my mom and thanked her 38 times. I loved how creative they were and was thrilled to pieces to finally be like my big sister :-)

Fast forward to now. I'm married, pregnant, and don't plan on showing off my stomach to the world anymore. It's a phase of my life that is ending and I guess that's why I'm sad, it's a symbol for me. I never was good at saying goodbye, but I am good at being emotional (I blame it on the hormones).

What a relief

It's so nice to have the cat out of the bag, I feel like I've been holding in our baby secret for months! When in reality it's been like 6 weeks.
Thanks everyone for the heartfelt congratulations, we are truly thrilled beyond words and feel so blessed. I've dreamt about becoming a mother and raising a family with my hubby and it is so surreal that it is finally happening. We are so so happy. I'll try to keep most of the baby stuff to our baby blog, but I have a feeling some of it will slip in here since I can see my thoughts revolving around this little one :)

In other news, Breaking Dawn came out, the last and final book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. Oh. My. Gosh. I still have about a hundred pages to go (it's 750 total, I love big books!) but I LOVE it and could not have thought of a better way to wrap up Edward and Bella's story. Hopefully I still feel this way when I finish, but I seriously love it and have no complaints. Brian called this morning and said the top 15 books list came out: 1. Breaking Dawn 2. Eclipse 4. Twilight 6. The Host 13. New Moon
Can you believe it?! All of Stephenie's books are in the top 15, that is how good she is and how good the books are. Simply addicting.

Brian is plugging along in school, he doesn't have too much longer until this term is over and then he gets a couple weeks off, thank goodness. I'm so proud of him for getting his masters, but I truly can't wait until he's done and has more time to play :)

So I want to finish decorating our guest room before baby comes. Nothing extravagant, just a matching comforter set and some paint. However, I don't know what color scheme to use, I tossed around grey and yellow but I'm not sure. Any advice on color schemes or places where I could get ideas is much appreciated!

Your Thoughts

So Brian's mom's birthday was July 15th (our anniversary) and I have a belated birthday present I was thinking about giving her.
Picture this in a frame:

I do not have a face to see, or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss, I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands, 'nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song, or cuddle me so near.
But all that will change come February 20th, that's when they say I'm due.
I'm your new grandchild; and I can't wait to meet you.
All I ask between now and then is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait, because of all the love we'll know.

Do you think she'll like it? ;)

We're having a baby!!!

Pick 'em up!

I learned something new about my husband last week, on our way to the airport to fly to Arizona. He decided the best time to share this information was in front of my sister and brother-in-law.

Brian: So I picked up this hitch hiker the other morning (insert eyeroll from me because I assumed he was kidding) and he was telling me this interesting story....blah blah blah.

Me: Are you being serious, you picked up a hitch hiker (starting to believe him but not wanting to be gullible)?

Brian: (nonchalant) yeah, I do it all the time.

Me: WHAT?!

Brian: What's the big deal, I give them money too. It's not like they are homeless, they are just hippy's trying to get across the country.

Me: Are you kidding me with this? You pick up complete strangers, put them in MY bug and then give them money?! Are you nuts, don't you know that's dangerous?!

Jenny: To be fair, I don't think it's really dangerous for BRIAN to pick up hitch hikers (goes back to laughing at us with Kyle).

Me: I can't believe you are telling me this brand new information in front of people, I feel like I don't even know you (being melodramatic because well, that's me).

We compromised, he can continue to pick up hitch hikers but needs to stop giving them money. Oh boy, the things I learn about him.

What are your thoughts on hitch hikers?
