I know what you're thinking, are you still blogging about summer?
The answer is yes. We did so much this summer and soaked up every last minute. I think this might be my favorite summer yet. One of my favorite things was our family camping trip we took to 3 Creek Lakes.

Can you find the kids in between all our stuff? |
Once again, this is a first come first serve camp site and when we first arrived we had to ask people who were leaving for their site. Well the site we wanted had a lady packing up and she was the crankiest camper I've ever come across. She glared and told us she had until 2pm to leave and that we could not park near her campsite...even though the typical way you reserve your site is to talk to the person who is vacating. But whatever. We were hoping to stay on the lake but since everything was full we drove a quarter mile to the horse campgrounds and found a site there. We unloaded and set everything up then went to drive back to the lake and let the kids play.
As luck would have it, Mrs. Cranky pants was gone and no one had taken the spot! So what did we do? Well I stayed at the spot with the kids so they could play and I could hold our precious beach front campsite...and Brian drove back to our other campsite and packed the entire thing up by himself in 15 minutes. It was so impressive.
So once again we unloaded and set up camp, this time for good.
It was so worth it. While we were cooking or hanging at our campsite, the girls were right in front of us on the little beach and playing in the water.

That tent way back behind Brian (in the middle of the picture) is our tent |
The girls played and played and played. We were lucky enough to be there at a time when the tadpoles had just started turning into little baby frogs and the girls spent most the time catching their pet frogs. They each got a solo cup and would fill it with half a dozen frogs, then name them and play with them. After a few hours they would release them and then catch different ones. They told us their favorite part of camping were the pet frogs.
There are some great little hikes around there and we went for a little one the second day we were there.
The girls are such amazing hikers, they love to explore and remind us to stop and take it in. Brian and I can tend to have the backpackers mentality of getting there as fast as possible, but with the girls we take our time and find fun things in nature.

Stopping for a snack |
We also got to enjoy our new paddle board that Brian got for the girls. Both girls impressed us by doing it all by themselves and loving it. Brian really wanted to try it out, but I think he exceeds the 120 lb weight limit a bit...
