While Brian went hiking with Schuyler, I had a fun weekend with my sister and nephew. We were hoping Jaime could come too, but the kiddos had school.

 We were beyond thrilled to have them come up and it was a really good distraction for Bria, who tends to fall apart when Brian leaves these days.

We got to spend lots of quality time together and we were all in heaven. Jax is one of the happiest babies ever. He is so content to run around and play and watch my crazy girls be...girls :)

 It was still pretty warm so we went to a park with a splash pad and Jax was in HEAVEN. Seriously, the kids would get squirted in the face and still be smiling. This little girl was being a brat (sorry to sound bitchy but seriously, it's true) and following him around dumping water on him. I mean, come on! Where was her Mom?! But fortunately Jax couldn't have cared less, so she eventually got bored and moved on.

 The kids ran around (Reese prefers pools over shooting water, but warmed up to it a little) and had a grand old time until their lips were blue and we forced them to leave.

 Friday Bria had preschool so the littles got to go for a walk to the park.

Then we picked Bria up and headed to the Zoo! Jax's first visit was a success, his favorite was the Lion.

It was a pretty exhausting day, the little ones fell asleep in the stroller on the way to the car (Reese thought this little catnap was sufficient, I disagreed). Jax continued his nap at home and slept like a champ. My girls did not sleep and I could barely keep my eyes open. I eventually pretended I wasn't tired (cuz that's what you have to do sometimes) and made a cabbage salad for dinner that I was super excited about. I don't get to make fun stuff for meals because I have a VERY picky husband. Other fun meals included an avocado and tomato sandwich that was to die for. 

Before calling it a day we played outside to get them nice and tired. A little colored rice and swimming then bath and bed...finally!

Jenny and I got to hang out on the couch and talk for a few hours before we eventually went to bed ourselves. It was fabulous.

Saturday was haircut day for Jax!! His first haircut did not go well, not that the cut was bad, but Jax screamed the entire time. So Jenny was super nervous to try again but I told her I knew the perfect place...Pigtails and Crewcuts. 

They did not disappoint.

He started crying the second the apron went on and Jenny looked deflated. But the bright red haired stylist, aka Superwoman, didn't bat an eyelash as she whipped out the bubbles and instantly distracted Jax. 

 It continued to go well as we would grab a new distraction every minute or so.

It's safe to say we will see the Tegner's up here every few weeks, if just for the haircut ;)

After a good nap for Jax it was time for them to head home. We were all sad to see them go but so grateful for the time we got to spend together. Can't wait for the next time!

A little bit of this and that

Let's do a random post, just about random stuff, with random pictures. Get the idea?

Bria has been asking a lot of questions about space and is very interested in planets. I would like to think I'm pretty smart, I mean I do have a fancy college degree ;) However, when your 4 year old starts asking very in depth questions about the planets and the sun, I realized I have forgotten a lot of what I learned. I guess motherhood will do that to ya.

Anyway, I found some information online and Bria sat and watched a National Geographic show about the planets for like 15 minutes, she was very intrigued.

Just like her Dad, loves National Geographics :)

While Bria loves to be active, she is pretty cautious. Watching the Buell boys helps motivate her to try new things and skateboarding is one of them.

 Usually she likes to sit on it and use her feet to go fast, but every once and awhile she gets courageous and stands on it. Although it's pretty slow going :) Thanks to Dusty for loaning us a skateboard for her!

Bria has had two days of preschool so far and the second day I was already bored, haha. Bria and Reese play so much together that I think Reese is use to being entertained by someone. I was tempted to go to Target just to get out of the house, but then I would just spend money. So instead we went to Brian's work for a walk.

Last but not least, we have been having a heat wave here and I think I'm the only one excited about it! Most Oregonians are ready for Fall, but I am soaking up the last of the precious summer.

Labor day swimming

 Better late than never right?
On Labor day we went and BBQ'd at the Buell's. They have a neighborhood swimming pool so we first went and took advantage of it and the kids had a blast. Brian hasn't seen the girls swim in a long time so he was pretty floored at their progress (thank you personal instructor Tracy!).

 Bria loves her goggles (again...kuddos Tracy!) and will stay under for such a long time if she has them on. I think being able to see helps give her confidence under water.

It was a successful BBQ for sure and the kids were wiped out. Dusty made some delicious ribs that we scarfed down and then called it a night.

Grrr, blogger is not on my good list right now. I had written this big long post about this Gala we went to on Saturday night, it published and was visible on the blog.
Then it wasn't.
And I'm annoyed.
So I will try and recap again, but it's going to be short and sweet.

Saturday night we went on a date night and it was a fancy one, those are my favorite. Our friends, Scott and Randi, invited us to Brian Grant's (former Blazer player) fundraiser gala for Parkinson's. There was a pre party, dinner, and after party.

 After the dinner and entertainment (which included Bill Bellamy and Brian McKnight!) we spotted Jerome Kersey and I was ECSTATIC to say the least. He was on the Blazers during the awesome RIP City years. He was also on a DQ glass...some of you may know how awesome that is :)

Then we walked on the red carpet (one of the highlights of the night!) and headed to the after party.

While walking we spotted Brian McKnight. He didn't seem thrilled when we asked him for a picture (rude!) but he obliged.

 Finally we made it to the after party and Brian and I talked with David Lucas, he was a basketball player for the Beavers when we cheered there.

 Randi and I danced for a few songs and then we called it a night. It was magical and fabulous and we had such a great time!

Yesterday was the first day of Bria's last year of preschool, big day! 

The night before school she said she didn't want to go to sleep, just wanted to go to preschool :) She is kind of obsessed with her teacher, Mrs. Biamont, and a little girl in her class, Ella. At orientation of Friday her and Ella picked up right where they left off :) It was very sweet.

When we went in to drop Bria off, Reese plopped herself down in the chair and started playing with the playdough. She was not happy when I told her it was time to go, fortunately she recovered quickly (after an adorable pouty face).

Reese was a little bored without her big sister to entertain her, I did my best but Bria is pretty fun so it was hard to fill her shoes. 

We did some grocery shopping (so much easier with one child!) and laundry and playing, then it was time to get big sister.

Bria loved every minute of it and can't wait to go back tomorrow :)
